If you have a pool at your home and you haven't had it opened in a few years, but you aren't sure what condition the water is in, or what the pool looks like under the cover, get expert help. If you know that the pool had some flaws before you put the cover on, and since you last used it, there are some things that may be of concern. Call a swimming pool contractor and repair professional to go over the following things before you decide to take a dip or try to treat the water.
Test Your Water
Have the water tested to see what type of bacteria and other concerns are lingering. It may be easiest to just assume that you need to have the pool drained, and that you should then refill it with new water so you don't have to worry about bacterial problems or putting an abundant amount of chemicals into the water to try to clean it. If you can't get it cleaned, you wasted the money and time, and then will have to drain it anyways.
Consider Changing to Salt Water
Changing to saltwater could be an option. Talk with the pool expert about the low maintenance benefits of a saltwater pool. These don't require chemicals, which is best for your skin and swimwear as well. Get an estimate to see if this is worth the investment.
Replace the Liner
You want to replace the pool liner since you don't know how much bacteria got under or around the other pool liner. If there are any tears or damages, this is another indication that the liner needs to be replaced right away. Talk about new designs and options to improve the look of the pool.
Check for Cracks or Damaged Components
Once the contractor has the liner off they can look at the concrete to see if there are any cracks or damages. If it is a fiberglass pool it will also be easy to look for flaws once the water is removed. This is the time to fix filters, heaters and other items that need to be repaired or replaced.
If you are ready to get your pool going again and you aren't sure what you want to do, talk with a contractor, like, Crystal Blue Pools, to see what upgrades and improvements can be made. Get the water clean, clean up the pool area and start enjoying it again.Share
